Once upon a time in early 90’s Houston, TX, I was born to immigrant parents from two different worlds: my mom from the Philippines and my dad from Panamá. I grew up in a working class neighborhood where scary things happened outside, so most of my childhood was spent inside watching movies and getting lost in my imagination.
Although I’ve been performing ever since I’ve been able to move my body and make sounds with my mouth, I was introverted to a debilitating degree thanks to long-undiagnosed autism and ADHD. Perhaps that is why I have always been drawn to highly theatrical, larger-than-life stories told through stylized movement and music.
Watching movie musicals as a kid, along with the discovery of rock music in middle school and performing theatre in high school, generated within me feelings of strength, catharsis, and communion that were so transformative, I knew I had no choice but to devote myself to the pursuit of that extraordinary power for the rest of my life.
Among the many adventures of a biracial, queer, neurodivergent woman attempting to make art while healing from a veritable cornucopia of traumas, here are the highlights:
Received a BFA in Musical Theatre from Sam Houston State University in 2016
Sang vocals and played bass in badass alt-rock band Pretty Vacant from 2017-2018
Moved to Madison, WI in Fall 2020 to be with my partner while he worked toward a PhD in History
Left Wisconsin in Summer 2023 to accompany him on his dissertation research year across Western Europe: a breakneck 12-city tour on a shoestring budget where I could be completely free to make art!
